Lifestyle changes can help remedy dandruff, and using certain shampoos and supplements can help the process.
The most obvious home remedy for dandruff is to maintain a healthy diet, manage your stress, and limit the use of styling products which lead to oily buildup on the scalp.
These are changes to make that will result in healthier hair and scalp, guraranteed!
Vitamins B and omega 3 vitamins are essential for a healthy scalp and hair, make sure you are taking these or a daily multi vitamin that has the daily recommended value.
Let’s take a look at some of the best home remedies for dandruff that are easy to find and easy to follow:
Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil is a natural and perhaps one of the oldest home remedies for dandruff. It reduces the presence of fungus and can be found in hair care products at natural food retailers.
Massage it into your scalp and leave it on anywhere from 15 minutes to overnight and then shampoo. Continue this treatment once a week for best results.
Apple Cider Vinegar
A mixture of stinging nettleand apple cider vinegar has also been touted as a natural treatment for dandruff.
The stinging nettle is steeped overnight and then mixed with the vinegar prior to washing hair with the solution.
Leaving the treatment in for a minimum of 15 minutes will provide the most efficient results.
Apple Cider Vinegar and Water
Easy peasy, mix 50% water and 50% apple cider vinegar and rinse your hair liberally. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes or even overnight if you don’t mind the smell. Rinse thoroughly with cool water.
Listerine
This may be strange sounding, but it is considered very effective as a dandruff treatment. Buy a regular bottle of Listerine mouthwash and put a generous amount on your scalp. Leave on for at least five minutes and then rinse. Make sure you don’t get any into your eyes, this can really burn!
Baking Soda
Get some regular baking soda and massage into wet hair. Leave on for 3-5 minutes and then rinse thoroughly as usual. The Baking Soda’s grainy texture sucks and removes excessive oil and also dead skin cells concentration from your scalp without over stripping your scalp of its natural oils.
Olive Oil
Olive oil is one of my favorites out of the home remedies for dandruff, because it works not only on your hair, but for just about any skin or scalp condition (as well as a delicious salad dressing).
Great for your skin and great for your hair it supplements your scalp and hair with essential vitamins A, K, E, as well as providing anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory qualities! Just rub it into your scalp gently and brush through your hair. Leave on from 15 minutes to overnight and then wash thoroughly. Follow this treatment once a week and see your hair becoming shiny and healthy right away!

What Dandruff Treatments Work Best For You?
You may find that the dandruff treatment that works for someone else may not work for you.
Everyone’s scalp is slightly different so you might have to try out a couple of different treatments before finding one that is suitable for your scalp.
Once you have found the best treatment for you continue to use it until well after the dandruff is gone.
A common mistake is to stop the treatment too soon, which will only result in the dandruff condition coming back, so make sure you’re giving the treatment of choice a chance. That means four to six washes, or a couple of weeks at least.
